Parent Teacher Conferences

I love my job. I think it, say it, write it, facebook it, tweet it, and sometimes shout it. Tonight was the third night in as many weeks of 5 to 8:30 conferences.

Parents of 7 students came to see me...most were "good" conferences. Meaning I told them that their students were doing well in class, that they had earned "good" grades. Two were "great" conferences. Meaning parents came in to talk to me because they check on their respective students' grades often and were concerned. We got to brainstorm ideas to help make their children better students, from time management, specific things to work on, and just some encouragement from all of us.One was a "awesome" conference. Meaning this parent had no clue how their student is doing in any of their classes, and needless to say, was Shocked! We discussed behaviors in class, work habits at home, possible fibs the student had been telling us both. We made a plan to help this student to be successful, not just in my class but in all their classes, and well.....LIFE.

All the conferences were appreciated by me. I want to be apart of the team that is shaping these teenagers. It is my passion, my joy, and my absolute honor. Thank you parents for caring about your children enough to take the time out of your busy lives to come and talk to adults who have your children's best interests at heart. Each and everyone of them is our future!

Turning 37

Wow......37. Seems strange to be that young already.
I have done so much and so little
I have been married to The One for over 10 years.
I haven't quit figured out how to balance our differences
I have two amazing children who remind me daily why I am Here
I haven't learned how to keep the house clean from all of us.
I have a job that interests and fulfills me.
I haven't gotten good at leaving work at work

Small things left undone, focusing on the big things.

My family went out to the shop this evening to wrap my presents...
then brought them inside and hid them. Love it!

I want to give myself a present...
a commitment, a promise, a dedication, a wish

it is also hidden, not from me, but from others. If I fail, I want it to be about me. No excuses. Just for me.

Okay, 37....Let's Do This!

Handy Me

The night I got home from the trip with my students, John and I decided to try out some patterns on the bathroom floor....
walkway
area rug

Oh and now the bathtub is gone....
 <sigh>

...and the tile sits on the counter. We have bought a tub, toilet, faucets, and light fixtures. The tub will hopefully go in tomorrow. Then the rest of the walls, and subflooring, tile around the tub, paint the rest of the walls (wonder what color to go with), tile on the floor, toilet, countertop, backsplash, medicine cabinet (which needs to be painted), light fixtures, towel hangers, and then possibly the new shelves......Oh and I think I have a different idea for the floor tile......

With all of that, we made time on Saturday to make this puppet theater for church!
It turned out great!!

I love being married to a handy man!!

Garden Party: Chapter 3

Oh how the radishes have grown!
They are so cute!!
The sweet peas are growing crazy...I've seen little climbing tendrils. I can't wait to have yummy pea pods to eat.
Its so cool that beans poke out of the ground all bent over to protect the fragile leaves. Soon it will be a tall plant!
